Backfire

“Not long after, an inspector and constable drove Hill to a nearby health care facility, where he was admitted. Over the next 72 hours, Hill continued spouting contradictory statements to more Brantford officers visiting him in hospital, making incriminating utterances to seven cops in all. I lied, he said — I was told to. There’d been a knife. There wasn’t a knife. Was there a knife? Hill’s words were disjointed, but the officer repeatedly referred to himself in stark terms. He kept saying he was a “murderer.””
